Fill A Backpack. GUMC will again be providing backpacks and school supplies for Goddard School Children. The missions bulletin board will have cards for you to take and purchase school supplies. Take as many cards as you would like and return the new school supplies by July 31st.
Childrens Summer Camp. Summer camp is on July 28th - July 31st at Camp Hiawatha in North Wichita. The cost started at about $140 and has since been reduced to $40 due to the very generous scholarships awarded to each student that would like to attend. See Pastor Jim for a small packet of information. It is open to students in 2nd through 6th grade.
National Night Out. The National Night Out will be celebrated with a GUMC Block Party. Mark your calendars for 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5th. There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, sno-cones and popcorn. Plan on a fun filled evening out with the family and church family here at GUMC. There will be face painting, a moon walk and the Praise Band will perform all evening.
Blood Drive. A Blood Drive will be held here at GUMC on Tuesday, August 5th. The Red Cross Blood Mobile will join us on our National Night Out. We need 15 people signed up and ready to give. Watch for sign up sheets in the breezeway or call the church office at 794-2207.

Food Shares. Prairieland Food shares wants you to be a part of the sharing. For only $24.00 and 2 hours of volunteering you will receive a lot of food! You can sign up by calling Elenor @ 295-4855. Pick up day is Sat., July 26 at the Goddard Baptist Church, 124 W. 2nd.
Special Volunteer Needed. We need someone to help those little hands and feet learn about Jesus and his Love. We need a volunteer to teach kids church for Pre-K and Kindergarten. The Curriculum is provided and ready for YOU. Contact Jim at the church office, 794-2207.
Attention Disaster Volunteers. United Methodists wishing to volunteer in Chapman should have already had Disaster Response training and have a Disaster Response photo-ID card. Driver Needed. Daycare in Goddard needs someone to drive kids to and from school this coming school year. This is a paid position. Please call Kristy for more details at 794-3456.
Volunteers Needed II. Regency Summer School. This summer we are hosting an eight week summer program for the children at Regency Trailer Park. The program started June 16th and runs through August 7th, Monday through Thursday. We will meet at 9:30 a.m. and dismiss the children at 11:30 a.m. We need volunteers to make and pack lunches for them, help teach the children (no teaching background necessary) and spend time listening to the students read. You'll find sign up sheets for all of the volunteer events in the hallway at the church.

Lord’s Acre Committee. The Lord’s Acre Committee wishes to remind you that the event will be here soon. The craft fair and bake sale will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 in conjunction with the Goddard Fall Festival. Our Lord’s Acre Auction will be the following Saturday, October 11 with dinner and a Silent Auction to begin at 4:30 p.m. and the Live Auction at 5:00 p.m. Please be in prayful consideration of how you could volunteer your time and talents.
Lord’s Acre Project. No Tools. No Talent. No Problem. Ron Bartlet has a great idea. Attention all wood workers, or NOT. If you ever wanted to make something out of wood and have no tools or talent, here’s your chance. Bring supplies for two projects. One is for you and one will be donated to the Lord’s Acre Auction. Moms In Prayer. Being a Sunday School class of women and in keeping with our nature, our studies focus primarily on relationship issues...with our Lord, our families, our friends, our co-workers and our church. We have just completed a Beth Moore study and will be beginning a new study on June 1st, although we have not settled on it as of now. We also devote much of our time together to prayer. The class is open to women of all ages...from young moms to grandmothers.
Worship in the Park - Cheney Lake. Now through Labor Day weekend. 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. Enter Cheney Lake on the west side at the main entrance off of 21st Street West. Services are held in and around the Church Pavilion. Everyone is welcome!
Clothes Closet Helper Needed. Jan Bolls is looking for someone that would like to volunteer with her at the Clothes Closet on Mondays and Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. Please call the church office at 794-2207 if you are interested. Librarian Needed. A Librarian is needed to watch over our new Library. A huge thank you to Anna Nicolet for oraganizing and cataloging our library for many years now. Anna and her family have left our congregation to worship at a church closer to their home. She is more than willing to teach that special someone who is interested. Hour of Prayer. The Intercessors Hour of Prayer is held at 5 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Pantry Alert Our GUMC pantry is almost bare. We have helped many families lately. Non-perishable items are needed to replenish our shelves. We need items like peanut butter, rice, pasta and canned goods. Please place your donation in the blue tubs by the mission board.
Sunday School Classes are available for everyone! For Women Only with Jan Sandier. All Women are welcome to attend our class as we enjoy a new and exciting study with Beth Moore. Pray for and share joys about our children. Join our class in the west side room of Wesley Fellowship Hall-Just follow the ladies!
The Messenger’s Sunday school class with Tom Poteete. We are now in the 7th book of Exodus and we have found that many times Moses thought he was not the man for the job. But with God’s help and nudging he WAS the man. We will begin studying the plagues that struck Egypt, during the month of June. PLEASE JOIN US!
Ron Bartlett and Craig Bassett alternate Sundays. Ron Bartlett’s study is on the book of Job. Craig’s study is a Chip Ingram study on Why I Believe. They will answer some tough questions, such as; What happens when you die? Can miracles be explained? Why believe in the Resurrection, after death, the bible creation, or GOD.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Dig In! A new youth class called Dig In is underway. It is held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m, every Sunday. The Dig In Bible lessons will move teens beyond their foundational awareness of God and teach them how to dig deeper into their relationship with Him. Each teen that signs up for the class will receive his or her very own self-discipleship book and journal. The booklet features seven weeks worth of lessons and Bible studies as well as seven scripture memorization verses.
Rising Stars. The Rising Stars dance group featuring ballet, tap and jazz for 3 to 5 year old girls meets at GUMC every Thursday at 7 p.m. If you are interested, please call Brandi at 794-3456.
VOLUNTEER Requests and Opportunities
Communion Volunteers needed. Volunteers are needed to help with the 9:00 a.m. early worship service communion. This is a once a month service. If you would like to be a communion steward, please call the church office at 794-2207.
Caring Hearts. Our GUMC Caring Hearts Committee is formed and ready to take your calls. Caring Hearts is a group of volunteers that will work as a team in just about any area you have a need. Please call the church office at 794-2207 or Ray Lutz at 794-2075 if there is something we can help you with.
Meet our Nursery Coordinator The nursery is available every Sunday morning from 8:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m., and Wednesday evenings, for children ages infant to 5 years. Please contact Sarah Yee, Nursey Coordinator at 794-2207 if you are interested in helping in the nursery on Sunday mornings.
Regency Community Center is an outreach mission in the Regency mobile home park on West Hwy. 54. The center was remodeled in 2006 and provides a place for youth after school as well as community gatherings. A part-time Activities Director is needed for an after school children's program. If you know of someone who may be interested, please contact the church office.
Lord’s Acre Clothes Closet hours. The Lord’s Acre Benevolence Clothes Closet has relocated to the Regency Communicty Center and is open on Thursdays from 2-5 p.m. The Clothes Closet is in need of hangers. If you have some to spare, please drop them by the Clothes Closet or the Church during regular office hours.
Lord’s Acre Coupon Exchange. We are needing any and all grocery store coupons that you don’t use for our exchange program. Drop your coupons off at The Clothes Closet on Mondays and Wednesdays between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. or drop them by the church office. Everyone is welcome to join in on our coupon fun.
Feed the Homeless. GUMC members feed the homeless on one day of the last week of every month. Please call the church office, or Carol Carter at 794-7364, or sign up on the clipboards during services if you are interested in cookng or serving! Recipies are provided and meals are simple, yet nutritious and tasty. Bring your items to the church kitchen by 10:30 a.m.
